English 308: Syllabus and Course Schedule
Syllabus
The syllabus for this course (which collects most of the information available across this website in one place) can be found below and on the course Teams page under “files.”
NOTE: the “Course Schedule” listed in the syllabus is subject to change throughout the semester. For the most up-to-date course schedule, including a list of assignments and due dates, scroll down this page to the digital “Course Schedule.” I will list all changes to the course schedule here.
USAFA Academic Calendar
Because of the uncertainty surrounding our academic calendar, I have organized the course schedule around lessons rather than dates. This will allow us to more easily and smoothly adjust to changes in the calendar. I will make the most up-to-date version of our academic calendar available to you below and on our Teams page under “files.” It is students’ responsibility to know the calendar dates for each lesson. You should always feel free to email or Teams chat me if you have questions.
Alternate Schedule of Classes (SOC)
In the event that USAFA moves to a delayed schedule of classes (SOC), we will move to the “Inclement Weather Schedule of Calls” below. Alternate times listed on the left-hand side.
Submission Times
1. Reading Quizzes and Writing Workshops: students should complete these assignments by the start of class on the lesson date. So for example, if you are in my T5 section and you have a reading quiz on Shakespeare’s Henry V due on Lesson T6, you must complete the reading quiz by the start of 5th period on Lesson T6.
2. Reading Responses and Essays: due by TAPS on the date of the lesson assigned.
I will be manually checking submission dates and times—if, for example, you take a reading quiz after the start of class (e.g., after lunch, later that evening, three weeks later…) I will manually change the grade to a zero. Late penalties apply to all late assignments.
